    Hi
I recently upgraded from Vegas Movie Studio to Vegas Pro 9.0 as I had issues with velocity envelope in movie studio..
Now I have few problems and would appreciate any help

1 – I want to add video overlays but every time I add new video track it shows the video on first deck, does not overlay the video so the top one becomes transparent and you can see both videos..
I could do that in Movie studio and don’t know how to set it up with pro 9.0

2 – Also I am working on a documentry project need to add alot of names, I have never worked with titles before in vegas so I want to know what is the best way to add titles with in the video to show the names of interviewees etc, they usually have on docos and news etc .. with name and transparent background thing behind titles.. any ideas?

    Thanks

    1) Reduce the opacity of the clip on track #1.
This is done by bringing the cursor up to the top of the clip until it changes into a 2-headed arrow with the words “Opacity is 100%”.
    Drag it down as desired.

    2) Text goes on the top track.
If you don’t have an empty track above the video clip, Ctrl+Shift+Q is the shortcut to do this.
Then drag a “Default Text” event from the Media Generators tab onto this track and adjust size, position, colour, etc. as desired.

1: did you set the LEVEL of the upper layer to 100%?

2: For titles you can look in the MEDIA GENERATOR tab. There you will find all possibilities for titles.

I have never used the studio version. Always used the ‘Pro’ version. But I would think that it would be very much the same.
To change the opacity of a top track to let an underlying track show through place your curser at the topf the event in the track and pull down the opacity envelope. You can also use the opacity slider in the track header.

You never used titles in Studio? Its the same. Use generated media to make the title with transparent background. I believe its the first example in the templates. Then position it where you want it, like at the bottom. Research the term ‘lower thirds’ for what you are talking about. You can place the title on track one, the lower third on the second track behind the title and your video background on the third track.
