I have Sony Vegas Pro 9. I have videos on my computer that i have uploaded in the past and i edit them fine. For some reason when i upload new videos(from the same camera and are in the same format, .WMV) they only have audio and where the video would be it says (Media Offline). I also have noticed that after ive tried the videos in vegas, when i go back to my documents the videos have .sfk and .sfpao files with them which has never happened. Can anybody help me?

You have a video camera that shoots WMV files? Usually when the video is missing it means that the codec needed to decode it is not installed on your computer. Did the camera come with any software and did you install it? It may contain the codec you need.

I also have noticed that after ive tried the videos in vegas, when i go back to my documents the videos have .sfk and .sfpao files with them which has never happened.

This is normal. The .sfk files are the wave form information and the .sfap0 file is an audio proxy because vegas doesn’t handle WMV audio natively.

Then stop doing that. WMV is a horrible format to edit and you are loosing quality by converting your MPEG footage to it. Just edit your cameras MPEG files.

What camera do you have? Are you using the files exactly as they came from the camera? What file extension do they use? (.mpg?) It is very odd that Vegas cannot read an MPEG file.

Do you have any codec-paks installed? These could cause strange results in Vegas.

Perhaps you can upload a sample file that we can try on our systems.

You need to go to File | Render As… and then select your render format. Use Sony AVC for MP4 files and Video for Windows for AVI files. There are a variety of templates to choose from with each format. Just select a template and render the file. Note: It may take a long time to render but this is normal.
