    Hi Guys,

I’ve had this strange issue with Sony Vegas Pro 12 (build 486 – 64 bit). I’m using 3 monitors whenever I’m editing or color grading. One of the monitors I use both as a preview monitor and when not in preview mode I use it to display my explorer, video transitions, project media or other programs like REDCine-X. The preview works just perfectly fine if I set it up right and simply click the ‘Video Preview on External Monitor’ button. So no issues there. However… if I turn the button off again, the screen remains black until I actually shut down Vegas entirely. I’m still able to edit and all, but the screen simply remains black.

So far the only workaround I’ve found is to hit ctrl+alt+delete and force Windows priority over everything, then simply click on cancel or hit escape and I’m back in Vegas with my preview monitor free to use for whatever purpose again.

Initially I figured it was just something related to my specific computer / software set-up as I couldnt find anyone else experiencing the same issue. However today my partner started having the exact same issue on a completely different system…

Anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Since were both having the same problem on different systems I can only assume that it must be Vegas’ programming itself…

    Similarities between our systems:
    – Sony Vegas Pro 12 (build 486) 64 bit (I had the same issue with earlier builds as well)
    – Windows Ultimate 7 64 Bit
    – AMD’s CPU’s (Athlon and Phenom)
    – AMD GPU’s (drivers are up to date)

I’m getting a 2nd Monitor Crash when I alter the Docking Window of Panes. I’ve reported this to SONY. I’d suggest you’ve unearthed a variant of this.

    Please report directly to SCS.

    Hi Remy,

Recently, I have the same problem. Very annoying!
It could be that it is introduced with one of the latest updates: VP build 394 to 486 or the Catalyst update of 12.8 to 13.1 .

But I tried it on another PC with exactly the same spec’s except for the GPU (NVidia Geforce GTX 660 Ti instead of ATI Radeon HD5750 on my editing PC) => No problem!

Do you already have a response from Sony?
