Hi there. This is my first post, and I hope I’m asking the right question here. I’m new to this program, which I basically use in order to make AMV’s. Anyways, I know Sony Vegas Pro 11 is for professionals, and I’m not that bad with video editing, the reason I chose Sony Vegas is because Windows Movie Maker is a real troublemaker.

    Ok, here’s my problem:
When I import certain videos and I drag them to the timeline, then I play the preview, these certain videos look all blurry and distorted, even in black in white. When I import other videos, they look OK.
I checked these videos and they’re all .avi, so I’m not sure what could be wrong…

Another question, kind of a silly one: WHAT THE HECK DOES “RENDERING” MEAN?? I suppose it is what you do when you finish a project and you wanna make it a movie, right?

Anyways, when I first opened the Vegas Pro 11, there was a small window that popped up asking if I wanted something to change to .svg; could this be the problem?

    Thank you all beforehand!

.svg is scalable vector graphics file format.
Vegas usually asks to associate .veg files to Vegas the first time you run Vegas.
Rendering is the act of saving the video to a new file. Any file transformation or transcoding is a rendering process. When you save in Vegas you are saving the settings for the project.

As for your first problem, do the videos play with a windows video player such as VLC, DivX player or Windows Media Player. There are countless other players too.
