I render my clips after color grading in After Effects CS5 to .mov in an h.264 codec and have never encountered a problemn until a few days ago. Some clips show as h.264 in their properties and others as AVC… The AVC work fine, yet the h.264 are all black and or green. Any ideas what I can do?? Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!

Curious as to why you are rendering an intermediate to such a heavily compressed codec which you will have to re-compress for output.
That said – are you using the same presets every time you render from AE? Are the videos the same size?

Yes and yes. I opened the project files in Vegas 11 and they worked fine… I’ve also used Quicktime to jpeg, png and animation, but obviously animation is huge and jpeg seems to be under-performing when it comes to color and quality. Quicktime to h.264 are a reasonable size and hold quality very well. What would you recommend??

You could try avi uncompressed or QT png compressed. Since you are doing color correction I would definitely avoid h264 because of the gamma shifting issues that sometimes happen.
