  • Sony Vegas Platinum 12 – Crashes With NewBlufx Colorfast – Also how to recover a lost project

    Hello Everyone,

I recently installed NewBlueFX Colorfast plugin and ever since then, Vegas randomly crashes unexpectedly. The worst was yesterday when it crashed midway through saving a project. The whole project disappeared!! See the *** below to find out how I recovered the file.

My question, is anyone else having these issues and is there a cure?

    Regards
    Tom, London UK
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Vegas: Sony Vegas Platinum 12 HD – 64 Bit
Plugin: NewblueFX Colorfast – installed as OpenFx 64bit version

Now the fix to the MISSING project file:
In the SAME folder as your project file, there is a file with your file name appended with a .bak extension. Make a copy, and then rename it to .vf That should hopefully open your project. It worked for me. Lesson Learned : I suggest frequently “Save AS” a different file name, so if project goes AWOL, its not all lost – we can roll back to the last saved version at least.. Thanks for reading.

The cure for you Tom, is to simply uninstall Colorfast.
Colorfast probably has compatibility issues with your installed
GPU Video Card or you can try update the driver.

    Thanks Steve, I will try
the driver update route as suggested…
if that fails, then a reluctant uninstall of the plugin.

Problem fixed and everything works so far. Newbluefx support sent me a link to a utility that can turn off GPU Acceleration for Intel HD Graphics cards. Vegas has stopped crashing. Thanks.
