  • Sony Vegas NEVER renders no matter what I do?

Posted by Ella Carr on February 15, 2014 at 5:17 pm

So I have multiple projects that range from 15 seconds to 3 and a half minutes. I obviously need to render them, but no matter what I do, I either get the ‘low on memory’ error, the ‘Sony vegas has stopped working’ error or the ‘unknown error’.
I’ve tried pretty much every fix-uninstalling & re installing Vegas Pro 11, rendering using CPU only, turning off GPU acceleration, re-setting the Dynamic RAM and rendering threads to 0 and 1, rendering to all sorts of formats, NOTHING WORKS.
I can’t copy and paste sections because none of my projects will render and since my videos are packed with key-framed effects, (which Vegas can handle and render by the way, it used to be able to render loads and loads of effects)the key frames aren’t copied and pasted so I’d have to re-do all my effects.
Someone please help me. I’m using Vegas Pro 11 and Windows XP.

Try working with Vegas Pro 10.It’s the one made for XP.Whereas 11.0 was purely made in the 64 bit architecture for the Vista,7 and 8 Machines.

And you might be getting this error maybe because of low RAM,try Vegas Pro 7 or 10.
You can get the trial at : https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/vegaspro10

And what computer do you use?I mean specs?

Vegas 11 on XP? You gonna need to upgrade at some point with the
media formats you have now. Is it the latest build of Vegas 11 you
    have installed?

I, too, have hit this limitation with 32 bit Windows and 32 bit Vegas, and now exclusively edit in a 64 bit environment. I don’t use any fancy 3rd party plugins, so everything works for me.

If you have access to a 64 bit Windows 7 PC, you can install Vegas 11 Pro (64 bit version) on that machine. If you have got all your project assets and files in a single folder structure that you can copy to an external USB drive, you should be able to transfer entire projects onto the Windows 7 machine using simple copy and paste.

When you first open the project on the new PC, you might have to help Vegas find the first media file, and it should work out the rest by itself. You should not see the dreaded low on memory error. I have not seen it since I stop using Vegas Pro x32.

Please note that Vegas Pro 12 only comes in 64 bit.

My system specs: Intel i7 970, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 12 (x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6
