Sony Vegas- Mpeg2
Hey guys, Ive been looking through this tread and have a few questions which are probably really stupidly simple but I got a copy of Vegas Pro 8 from uni and installed it and it seems to have very little in the way of plug ins and stuff. I downloaded G-spot and some other codec packages but I have a sony camera and it encoded the video to mpeg2 and when i try to edit this in vegas it says unregcognized file format but ive got the codec for it (according to G-Spot). I am kinda annoyed as I have to use my riverpast to convert the file to avi then edit it to wmv for utube.
2. Secondly I have tried to download templates for renderring…quicktime and WMV (as the settings are default) but to no avail.
3. With regard to to the text editing, i have used the vegas 6 program but I dont know how to create cinema credits (scrolling down the screen) and ive spent two days on this *sigh* are there any tutorials that help with this
Any help would be appretiated cheers.

1. It sounds like your camcorder is a miniDVD. If so, import the files by going File – Import – DVD Camcorder Disc.
Be patient while the files load and convert.2. Everything you need is built into Vegas. You need to learn how to access what you need for the job. The manual is a great place to start as is the Online Help menu.
I’d also suggest getting all of Edward Troxel’s newsletters (PDF format and free!!).
Then go through them at your leisure.3. Type Credit Roll in the Online Help. It spells it out for you, step by step.

For some renders you really don’t use the “default” template.
May I also suggest a set of training DVD’s? I use Gary Kliener’s which are invaluable to me and he spells everything out in clear terms. But there are other great sets out there also, including DSE’s Vasst training DVD’s and I think Class on Demand has some.

Thank you very much allen, im getting to grips with Vegas the more I experiment with it, I think ill see if i can get some training dvds from the university for free (im broke lol)
