  • Sony Vegas Movie Studio 12 – how to export closed captions for You Tube

The Sony Vegas Movie Studio 12 help file says that you can insert captions to the timeline by placing the playhead to the specific time and using Insert->Command and then choose TEXT and type in the caption.

Is there any possibility to export the text commands inserted as described above in a text format, e.g. csv or xml or whatever, that would allow to transform them (possibly using a programming script like VB etc) into the format used by You Tube? Maybe there is a plugin or macro to make it possible?

Here is a specification how a You Tube caption file should look like:

Sony Vegas Pro supports scripting, so you can use scripts to export TEXT commands to subtitles. Afaik, Movie Studio can not do that.

Movie Studio’s captions can only be rendered to (embedded in) WMV files. I don’t know if youtube can use captions like this though.

As Aleksey says, there’s no scripting to export captions from Movie Studio.
