I recorded some footage on a DVD with my DVR, and I want to import it into Vegas for editing as part of a larger project. I did File > Import > DVD Camcorder Disc as per the norm; my question is, does Vegas save these mpg files anywhere? So, can I remove the DVD during the editing (if it does save them elsewhere), or do I need to re-render the imported files to a location on my hard-drive?

As soon as you click on the source drive, it asks you for a destination folder and that’s where to look for them.
The default location is C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\My Documents\DVD_name.
I don’t believe in keeping anything in that folder so I always specify a path that is in my project folder.

Haha, the import just finished and I realized that. I guess I wasn’t paying attention when I clicked through the import process. Thanks anyway!
