Sony Vegas HD Preview Lag
Hey Guys, this is my first time posting anything on here x]
But i have Sony Vegas 9.0e on my computer and when i try to edit my videos when i preview it within the first few seconds of each clip it lags. I am using .mov.
Computer Specs:
Windows Vista 64 Bit
AMD Phenom X4 Quad Core 9650(2.30GHZ)
ATI Radeon HD 4650 DDR2 1GB
4GB Ram
640GB Hard DriveIf anyone has a solution please let me know =]

Try setting your video preview to “Preview Auto”. That setting is just above your video preview display in a drop down.

unfortunately its already on Preview > Auto. any other possible solutions?

What codec does the video in the MOV file use? I’m guessing it’s AVC/h.264 in which case the start-yup lag is, unfortunately, normal for Vegas. It does this as it caches frames and then smooths out with AVC/h.264 footage.

It might, I don’t know because I don’t know what footage you have. Sometimes Premiere will not even import footage that Vegas will so it’s hard to say. All of my AVC footage is AVCHD which plays back very smoothly in Vegas Pro with no lag at all. It’s only when you try to use non-standard AVC footage that you run into problems and you are likely to have the same problems with all NLE’s because they can’t support all of the wacky combination of AVC/h.264 that camera manufactures are throwing out there which is why I would stick with AVCHD compliant cameras (or even better stick with HDV).

Man pretty much all HD Cameras record in AVC/h.246 hahah thanks for your help though!
