June 20, 2009 at 2:43 pmI upgraded from Vegas Pro 8 to 9 the other day and I also seem to be having problems with crashing, something that never occurred using 8. I am trying to convert a m2t project to a mpeg4 and it crashes everytime. Not sure what I am doing wrong but its pretty frustrating. Also, my still motion plug in from vasst is now useless.. I am wondering why I spent $185?

June 21, 2009 at 3:48 amIf you look further down the posts you will see a number of them relating to crashes in 9.0. With program deadlines looming the issues with 9 are serious enough for us to go back to 8.0c.
Pretty reliable hearsay has it that that a fair bit of the crash / app hang issues in 9 are cantered around the Main Concept MPEG engine and it looks like coding / codec issues on their side could be the cause of a number of these problems. Sony have announced that they and Main Concept are working on these problems. Sony also announced that a patch will be released ASAP.
Little consolation but I have heard that Adobe users are also having major issues with CS4 crashing and it looks like their issues are also Main Concept related.
Problem is that Sony and Adobe are far from major customers of Main Concept so where it stands on MC’s priority list of fixes would be interesting to know.

June 21, 2009 at 9:35 amThanks for the info Steve.. That would be great. It is however a little different than what I was told by email from Vasst;
“We are sorry but we don’t have a version of Still Motion for Vegas Pro 9.0. We are currently considering offering a lite version of Ultimate S which would have the full Photo Montage tool and offer a discount for StillMotion customers to upgrade. In the mean time, you will have to continue to use StillMotion in Vegas Pro 8.0 for now”.
Hopefully one or the other will happen soon…
