I can’t seem to open Mp2 files inside of Sony Vegas but I can open them in Sound Forge.

Our radio station receives commercial downloads from a site that only uses this format. Their solution is to download a (poorly designed) piece of conversion software to convert to mp3

    Sound Forge Properties info says:
    FILE TYPE: MainConcept MPEG-1
    AUDIO FORMAT: MPEG Layer 2
    16 bit stereo

How come Vegas can’t read this but Sound Forge can?

Vegas has never really liked that format. Why dont you simply
use Soundforge then to convert the audio to mp3 or something
    and drop that in Vegas.

Try renaming the file to .MPG and see if Vegas will import it since it’s just the audio portion of an mpeg2 file.
