This has got to be the most confusing software program ever developed.

Have spent over 24 hours of time over 5 days, and still unsuccessful in burning a dvd !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will have to burn directly from camcorder to a disc [sony camcorder].

WIll not recommend this software to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!

Let’s start with a simple question.
Are you using Vegas Pro or one the Movie Studio packages?

Really sorry you feel that way.

I have been using Vegas since v3 and can honestly say it’s the most intuitive piece of s/w I have used.

Perhaps if you shared your frustration, we could help you over the bump.

    Cheers for now,

Using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0.

Have rendered same movie 5+ times, the last time i got to dvd architect, the burning process was to begin and then it stated i needed to insert chapter markers!
Now i have to render movie again! Wait another 3+ hours, and then go to dvd architect and pray there are no more errors!!!!

I’m positive that two experienced Vegas users can help Jim sort things out, even if we’re both Canadian 🙂

I am using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0.

Attempting to burn a HD movie in standard format from a sony HD camera.

Due to length of movie it takes about 3 hours to render.
The first time, i rendered the movie it took 17 hours. Then when i hit button to make movie it rendered again for another 3 hours.

I have since rendered twice since then, finally got to dvd architect, after it went through its process it states i need to add chapters!!.
Back to creating movie again, now i’m rendering again, will need to wait another 3 hours again, and then pray it will work when i use dvd architect.
Does this software not have any error detection method prior? or ways of saving a rendered movie or edit a rendered movie so that there is no need to render entire movie again and again.

I use Pro (and there are differences between the two) but I’ll take a stab at your questions and hope that a Platinum user can correct me if I’m wrong.

Let’s start with some basic questions?
What are your system specs (OS, RAM, CPU, # and size of hard drives)?
What type of footage are you editing?
    How long is your movie?
Are there a lot of FX used on it?

“Due to length of movie it takes about 3 hours to render.
The first time, i rendered the movie it took 17 hours. Then when i hit button to make movie it rendered again for another 3 hours.”

    I’m confused already.
Was it 3 hours, 6 hours or 17 hours?
What format(s) were you rendering to?

I helped a student do a 1 hr. project last summer using Platinum.
When she clicked Make Movie, it did it’s thing and, a bit over an hour later, asked her to insert a blank DVD to burn the project.

“after it went through its process it states i need to add chapters!!.”

I’ve never had DVD Architect Pro ask me that question so that one has me stumped.

The standard method in Vegas Pro is to render an MPEG-2 file for your video and an AC-3 file for your audio.
It’s my understanding that you can do the same thing in Platinum.

Have you gone through the extensive built-in tutorials for assistance?
Have you checked out the free Vegas Movie Studio Training Videos?

    Jim,
Mike is right in that I have never been asked that question either.

    How long is your video?
Is it perhaps looking to burn dual layer due to its length?

    Cheers for now,
