    Hi,

I just got a new computer from Dell, running Windows Vista.

i was able to load Vegas 8 which I bought last year and so far it seems to run well from just a preliminary glance, at least my films seemed to load.

However – I have a video which includes an AfterEffects animation created in AE 5.5. When I load the video, everything loads except the AE animation, and I get an error message from Vegas about a plug-in error.

Now Vegas tech support tells me that Sony Vegas 8 is not meant to run on Vista (64 bit), though in general it seems to run on Vista.

I’m very confused. Do I need to re-create my AE clip? Do I need to upgrade Sony Vegas to 9? Do I need a newer version of AE?

    thanks

was running V8 on Vista 64 business for its entire lifespan, so no problems here

I think it’s more likely to be the codec that was used to export the AE file is causing hiccups

    what format is the video?

I don’t know much about it, but there is supposed to be some program called Debugmode Frameserver that is built to exchange files between Vegas and AE. It is supposed to be free, and excellent. Here is the link:

    https://www.debugmode.com/frameserver/

I would appreciate it if you would please let me know how it goes, as I am hoping to acquire AE at some future point. Thanks.

Thank you both for your responses a while back. After I posted I got involved with other stuff and when I got back to the issue I wanted to respond to your messages but I couldn’t find them. I just figured out how to find my postings.

As it turned out, the AE animation that I had as the title of the film works fine without any configuring. I don’t know why it didn’t initially work on my new computer with Win Vista. When I went back to working on it, there was no problem.

I want to upgrade from Windows Vista to Win 7 and hope there will be no complications with that.

I’m going to look into Debugmode Frameserver.

    thanks again!
