    Hi,
Ive been asked to provide a broadcaster with a file that Im finding impossible to create with Vegas, Im not a file genius but have what I thought was a reasonable knowledge – but Im well and truly stuck with this….
The file needs to be Mpeg 2, 720 x 576, 4:2:2, I frame only, 50mbps. The thing Im having the biggest problem with is the bit rate – In the custom setting, I set the bit rate at 50mbps but as soon as I press OK it reverts to 18.5 mbps. The broadcaster will also accept the file as 1920 x 1080 but in this case the bit rate would need to be 100mbps – I have managed to get it to 25…
Im running Vegas 10e 64 bit on windows 7 64 bit if that helps. Any help with this would be greatly received.

    Cheers,
    Dan

I produce a TV series for PBS and I use the:
Sony MXF format to give to CaptionMax who take it from there to make an HDCam master tape.

Here are the settings in Vegas I use to produce the file.
custom settings on the Sony MXF video tab are:
    Video format – HD
    1920×1080
    16:9
    Upper field first
    Video quality – high
    profile 422

    Hope that helps.

    Hi Roger,

What camera did you use to film the event?

I use several cameras. Primarily a Sony Z1U.
But I use other much less expensive cameras as well such as the Sony XR520. I edit on a 42 inch monitor and I can’t tell any difference in quality despite what some might say.
