June 30, 2015 at 4:25 amTry double clicking the seam between the events to turn on and off split screen, and use the [ and ] key to move your edit points.

June 30, 2015 at 8:40 pmWe really need a screen shot of your Sony Vegas project. Do you know how to do that? If not and you live within the United States, call me at 321-438-3906 and I’ll talk you through it.

June 30, 2015 at 10:22 pmNever mind, I just realised that I had to deselect “expand track layers” and now everything’s back to normal. Thanks anyway 🙂

November 21, 2015 at 12:33 amI’m looking for that now. Mine goes into that Shuffle looking thing and has A (shuffle symbol) B from top to bottom. And I came across File > 1 C:\Users\Travis\Desktop\BO3FREERUN.veg
The C:\User\Travis\Desktop\BO3FREERUN.veg file, is a file I had to click File > Save As… > Desktop > Save | So that I didn’t lose it all if I was messing around with it to fix it. I luckely clicked on it not knowing it would made it look normal and stuff. But… One track isn’t fixed all the way, it’s got the Shuffle thing A (shuffle symbol) B still there on Track 5. I had subtitles on my project making a video that’s been taking me hours to do and… This always happens when I’m about done with my video!!! I get kinda upset about it because I worked so hard. It really sucks, I don’t know how to get all the A (shuffle symbol) B things off! And make it look normal again. I want to take a screenshot, I’ll be right back. I’ll take the screenshot of what I’m talking about. I also can’t move or touch the things because they’re in some kind of expanded mode??? I don’t know if that’s what it’s called but here, I’ll take a picture right now…
Ok and the preview and stuff will also be gone, everything it like stretched out. Please help me though. I’ve been working on the video since yesterday and all today, many hours! 🙁

November 21, 2015 at 1:36 amAight so I had this problem too and to solve it is quite simple. Just:
Choose Edit > Select > Exit Expanded Edit Mode.
That should do the trick

November 21, 2015 at 1:17 pmThis has has happened to me as well and many times and also when nearingbthe end of a project involving many hours of editing. It happens when you accidentally double click an area on the timeline. You can go to the track itself and right click. Then select the option that says expand track. See if that helps. Honestly, though, for me, the best fix has been to close and reopen the project and without saving. If you saved already, you can move or copy the events on that track to a new track, then delete the old track and the undesired expanded track. Sorry I don’t have a better answer. I am just an editor and I don’t always understand or know how to explain these situations. Still I am seeking a permanent fix for myself. I feel your pain.

November 20, 2016 at 11:37 pmIf that happens too often – it could be your mouse accidentally double clicking (well, for me this is happening cause it started contact bounce). For me after saving project helped right click on track itself (see, where is mouse cursor):

and choosing disable on “expand track layers”:

July 15, 2017 at 6:53 pmGuys! Major break through!!! I found a solution, it’s very simple and easy.
All you have to do is go to the track on the side and right click it, there should be a little option that says
“Expand Track Layers”
Make sure thats unchecked!
