SONY VEGAS 10 aviplug dll crash

Try replacing the aviplug.dll with this one from an earlier thread,

To keep the original file but not load it just rename it to aviplug.dl1 or something similar before dropping the new aviplug.dll into the plugin folder. Do a search for the file name to find where the replacement file needs to go.

Also Cineform is a contributor to your crashes. Possibly working on
footages in the Cineform format.

As long as the original is named using .dl? and not an L, Vegas will not see it and try to load it.

I tried this solution when Cineform avi files were giving me major problems in Vegas, and it didn’t work. I even emailed the guy who created this solution and he couldn’t help me.

Cineform avi has become a nightmare to work with in Vegas, at least for me. I’ve started editing footage straight from my cameras as AVCHD. It’s compressed, with lower chroma subsampling, and the compression means that previewing and editing can cause slowdown, but the improvement is massive.

I would suggest using the footage straight from your camera, which I’m pretty sure is mpeg. I used to edit footage on a Vixia HV30, and would use Cineform to turn it into 24 fps footage.

I used to just render the footage out to 30 fps progressive scan and interpolate or blend the interlaced fields. Make sure your project properties match your footage, and when you render out, I would think you can render to 24 fps progressive scan and blend or interpolate the footage. Or, right click the clips, click Properties, then “disable resample” to make Vegas pull the extra frames out. That might not work on the kind of footage you shot, so I’d do some tests on both in your most movement filled footage to make sure there’s no ghosting of frames.

Basically, stop using Cineform avi.

Hey Angelo Thanks for your input.
I’m so desperate ! I’m convinced that Cineform is the problem, however,I have over 50 hrs of my project converted to avi. At this point I have no plan B, I got have it edited. I was trying to find a way to downgrade from sony vegas 10 to vegas 9, can’t find a way to do that, in fact, I don’t think it is possible. It seems that cineform is sony vegas 9 friendly. I was also thinking of switching to adobe premiere cs5, not sure if i will have the same problem with cineform and Adobe. I am really upset with this situation becouse I have many hours already edited and cannot give up now. This Cineform is a complete night mare !!! I am considering start my project from the beginning all over again but I got be sure that since my files are under cineform conversion I don’t want to play this game again and don’t win . If you have any idea please help me man !

In my experience, no, absolutely not. I would download mpeg streamclip, which is a free and easy to use program, and use it to convert your avi footage into mpeg. Open your project, and when Vegas asks you to replace missing files, just pick the ones you replaced, and you should be able to complete your project.
