sony problem laying off to hdw f-500
Posted by Cory Tardy on August 31, 2009 at 2:19 pmHello,
I have a kona 3 and a hdw f-500. Some time it works but most times it say unable to lock servo on deck. Is there an easy way to fix this?

August 31, 2009 at 6:23 pmTry setting reference to INTERNAL. This is what I do when I output to HDCAM SR…

August 31, 2009 at 6:42 pmWhat format is your project? If you’re working in 720p with an NTSC blackbust gen, it may clash. Also, the F500 has 2 different menu options for reference: One for the type (HD or SD) and another for method (Int, Ext, Auto).

August 31, 2009 at 7:09 pmSo you have a TriSync Generator then?

August 31, 2009 at 8:29 pmHas this setup worked in the past? I know my evertz tri-level has to be specifically configured for the correct frame rate and size. It’s not plug-and-play like the SD BBgen.

September 1, 2009 at 12:47 amDaniel is correct. You should state what tri level sync gen you have (AJA GEN10, Blackmagic, Evertz, Ensemble, etc.). Your edit system must be genlocked, and set to ext ref. Your VTR must have ext ref, tri level into the HD Ref Video input, and the menus of the VTR set to accept HD sync (tri level sync). If you have a blue flashing stop button light on the front panel of your VTR, your VTR is not setup correctly, and you will get servo errors.
Edit systems (like AJA Kona cards) and AVID systems must be manually set for EXTERNAL REFERENCE – AJA Kona in the control panel, AVID in the video output tool.
