    Hi folks,

I was just wondering if anyone here has any experience of using one of these in a FCP workflow? It looks like it records MPEG2 transport streams, so I assume conversion would be needed to make it play nice with FCP.

    Thanks!

The DR60 creates M2T files which need conversion for use in FCP 5.1. This is a pain. FCP 6 promises direct injection. We’ll see.

HOWEVER after making a recording on the DR60 – linked to a V1U – it is dead easy to playback from the disc and record to a tape in the V1U. Obviouly, this DR60 originated tape will transfer as normal to FCP.

    Why bother?

I shoot multicam – use the DR60 before the 60 minute cassette on the main V1U camera runs out. Change tapes – stop the DR60. End of day I transfer the DR60 links to a fresh tape. Works well.

Thanks for this. This workflow is just too time consuming for us – I guess we’ll wait and see what support FCPS2 brings.

    Good decision

    MPEG Streamclip https://www.squared5.com/ is slow.

Remind me when FCPS 2 comes out (May 15 we think/hope) and I’ll test my DR60 and report back. Ordered my copy already.
