I have a Sony HDR-SR12 and transferred some HD video to my PC for editting in Vegas 8 Pro. What format should these files be in because I get a “format not supported” error.

Also, what are the best settings to use when starting a new project? All the filming was done in 1920×1080 with 5.1 Surround. I don’t see presets for this kind of video.

Maybe I’m missing something (I’m new to this, as you can see).

I use the SR11 for personal use, which is the same camera with 80gig hard drive, and I believe it records each clip as an m2t file. Although I haven’t actually bothered editing any of my own footage yet. I figure I’ll just put it all off until I get a bluray burner 😛

But anyway, the m2t files should drop right into Vegas. I don’t know why it says format unsupported.

Yup… should drop right on the timeline.

I have the same camera for personal use and it edits like a charm.
