Sony HDR FX7 capture to FCP 6.0.6 issue with clips length
Hi,
I have quite a bit amount of tapes to be captured in FCP. I would like to capture them as one 1h clip that would show everything that was recorded on particular tape. Unfortunately when i press capture now i get multiple clips despite “Create new clip on start/stop” being turned off.Do you have any suggestions what it could be?
If its a broken time code as it was my guess, how could I fix it?

If you set the Capture Preset (in the Audio/Video Settings dialog) to HDV-Apple ProRes 422 and use Log & Capture then it will do just that.
There is a trick that I found if you want it as one long clip.
Change Capture Preset to just HDV (not HDV-Apple ProRes 422). Then COMMAND+8 to get the Log & Capture dialog, it should look different, with controls and everything.
Make sure you rewind the tape first, then on the dialog, set up the clip name in Log Clip button near the lower right.
Then press the Play button and then (quickly!) the Now button in the lower right corner in the Capture frame.
Press ESCAPE when done.
Warning: This does not always work though, and sometimes causes FCP crash.
