sony fs100 mts footage -> fcp7 / use clipwrap or let fcp7 log & transfer 2 pro res?

i have a series of two camera/sony fs100s interview shoots.

each camera will generate approx 6 hours of footage-12 hour total

i could take all that footage and use clipwrap to get me to pro res (or pro res LT-anyone with an opinion?)

or i can use fcp7’s log & transfer function to get me to pro res.

i know it has been discussed before but i’m not clear on any final thoughts on the subject.

clipwrap or fcp log & transfer?

what are the true positives/negatives of each?

any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

    be well.

Try Log and Transfer first. If that doesn’t work, then use ClipWrap2. I have a tutorial on L&T here…please follow it. Meaning, the first thing to do is backup and archive the tapeless media. That is step one.

LT takes up less space, and looks just as good. If your final output is DVD or WEB, LT is just fine. Heck, even for broadcast…unless they insist on a ProRes 422 or HQ delivery.

L&T…if you lose the media, or delete the media, all you need to do is highlight the clips and hit BATCH CAPTURE and FCP will bring it all back in, and your cut will be rebuilt automatically. Also, you can set IN and OUT points, import only what you want.

ClipWrap2…L&T doesn’t work with all AVCHD formats. Some choke it…for that I use ClipWrap 2.

    I second Shane.
ClipWrap is OK for when you can not go the L&T way.
