Sony F55 XAVC HD clips in Resolve Roundtrip with Avid – What format do you render them as?
Hi,
I’m having trouble figuring out the Avid/Resolve XAVC HD workflow.
When you’ve brought your AAF into Resolve (that’s ama linked to XAVC HD clips), you grade them and then when you go to do your final render, you select the “Avid AAF Roundtrip” easy setup. You “Render to:” MXF. But, I get stuck here – under the section “Codec is:” …… What do you render all the graded clips as? There’s no “same as source” or XAVC option, so which format do you render to to preserve all the information? Anyone have experience with this workflow? Many thanks.

I’m torn between these choices:
MXF Sony MPEG 444 (450Mbit)
MXF DNxHD 1080p 444
MXF DNxHD 1080p 220/185/197 10 bits
Avid MXF RGB 1080p (Avid 1:1 10 bits)The only one I’m fully familiar with is DNxHD 185x(10 bit) as I work with 1080p 25fps footage. I’m familiar with Avid 1:1 10 bit, but have never seen it described as ‘RGB’.
