    Hello,
it’s a beginners question 🙂 I’m going to edit footage recorded on Sony F55. The crew gave me disc containing files “proxyfootage” which looks like this:

Can anyone kindly tell me if this is indeed transcoded data ready to be imported into Premiere PRo CC (I’m working on PC) or what is the workflow (do I only need special plug in?)

    Many thanks in advance!

That’s not transcoded, that’s the raw dailies. You should be able to bring in the MXF files directly using the Media Browser

    Hi Ross,
thank you so much! It was a bit confusing: I’ve received two files “proxyfiles” the one containing files as on the screenshot I used before and also “rawfootage” which looks like below:

    containing these:

I could bring files using media browser, but error message appears:
    file directory:

    error:

Would it be best now to transcode the files to use in Premiere, and what codec/format should I use (there is quite a lot of material, it’s a short film, school project). The “rawfootage’ is recorded in 4k (F55 raw sq) 24 fps. The “proxyfootage” is XAVC Mpeg4. Should I now best transcode the “rawfootage” files using Resolve to HD, Quicktime, H.264 for Premiere or another codec would be better? Any watchouts (probably lots 🙂
I’m really really thankful for this! 🙂
