Sony EX1 – 59.94 or 29.97? Please Help Emergency!!.

I am trying to ingest in FCP some footage that was shot using the sony ex1 exdcam camera – the DP says he shot at 59.94 and in the sony transfer software that works with FCP it says that but when I import the footage into FCP (6.0.3) the clips frame rate says 29.97.
I made sure to use easy setup and make it a 59.94 project but then when i make a new sequence it also says 29.97. I know i must be misunderstanding something here but I really need to make sure the clips get captured at the proper frame rate.
I have to get this done today and designers are waiting for the footage – i captured everything and when i open the clips in QT Pro it says 29.97 – so is the correct even though it was shot at 59.94?

59.94 and 29.97 are the same thing if you’re in 1080i, just two different ways to say the same thing, 29.97 frames per second or 59.94 fields per second. If you shot in 720p it can be different, but 720 always plays back 59.94 anyway.

so with that camera is there in fact a way to shoot at a high speed frame rate?
I have used the P2 from Panasonic and for example you can shoot 720p60 which exports sequences with a 59.94 frame rate.thanks for any help people can provide – again i am new to the sony xdcam format.

The XDCAM EX camcorder can shoot 720p60 too, as well as 1080i60.
In XDCAM Transfer these appear with ‘Frame Rate’ of 59.94p and 59.94i respectively.
In FCP, they are shown as ‘Vid Rate’ of 59.94 and 29.97 respectively. The sequence presets are ‘XDCAM EX 720p60 VBR’ and ‘XDCAM EX 1080i60 VBR’ respectively.
