Sony EX-1 and FCP workflow – error message “Pro Codecs Required”
I have yet to hook the actual camera up but I am trying to make sure I have everything ready to go for tomorrow when the shooting is done on a project – I have the latest version of FCP on an 8 core and just downloaded the required software from the Sony site for use with FCP.
When i go to Import and select xdcam from the import menu it gives me this error message – the same thing happens when i launch the software (XDCAM Transfer) itself “Pro Codecs Required” – it says i dont have the required pro codecs installed – required to view converted movies.
Is this because i dont even have the camera connected to the mac or am i indeed actually missing some codecs – if so where do i get these?

i have fcp 6.0.3 and i downloaded the lateest xdcam transfer software

I did install this too and but i still get the error message when i launch transfer or do it through FCP – any other suggestions??

Strange. FCP 6.0.3 definitely comes with all the XDCAM codecs, so it sounds like XDCAM Transfer thinks your FCP install is out-of-order.
Have you tried installing XDCAM Transfer 2.7.0? Looks like this version has a new window which gives much more detail than just “Pro Codecs Required”. (Help > Installed Components shows it too if it doesn’t appear at start up.)
