  • Sony DVD Architect doesnt list my DVD Drive as a Burn option

Posted by Chris Forsyth on December 24, 2009 at 6:03 am

I just purchased a new Dell Studio XPS, with a DVD drive that reads and writes CD (all formats), DVD (all formats – single and dual layer), and Blue Ray discs. I also own DVD Architect 5.0c. Running Windows 7 64bit.

I’ve used DVDA5 for a while – I went to “Make a DVD”, “Burn from previously prepared folder”, pointed it to the correct folder (with the Video TS and audioTS folders, etc), but the output option dropdown only has “ISO Image Writer”, it does not also list my DVD Burner as an option.

I couldnt find anywhere in the help files anything that told me how to remedy this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Chris

Look in your Device Manager to see exactly what it is and what driver you are using for it. Open up a ticket with https://www.custcenter.com/cgi-bin/sonypictures.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php‘>Sony Creative Software providing that information to them.

In the past I had a similar issue and they sent me some .dll’s that allowed DVD-A to see my drive.

    Hi Jeremy:

Thanks for the reply. The link you provided seems to be broken…it takes me to another page on this forum that has be deactivated.

Would you mind pointing me in another direction?

    Or anyone else know?

    Thanks,
    Chris

For anyone who stumbles upon this in the future…
In this case – it was solved by simply going to
Options – Preferences – General Tab
Putting a check in the box next to: “Skip Drive Database; autodetect drive capabilities”. That seems to have done the trick.

Sorry Chris for the delay but glad you got it figured out. I was trying to point you to https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com and then under support where you can open a ticket with Sony.

A bdrom cannot burn discs. The “ro” portion of the name stands for “read only”.

sorry bob , I forgot to mention that its a dvdrw+-/bdrom combo, also I have Lg bdre which is a bd/dvd /cd writer in same machine, inteli7,win 7 ultimate,12gb ram. windows recognise both drives. I had nero-9 on same machine which also recognised both drives, I un installed nero so there is no conflict with dvda.

please see if you an help

    Thanks
