Sony DV CAM deck issue
Posted by Mark Dannunzio on November 30, 2005 at 2:43 pmI am having a problem with my Sony DV CAM deck. DSR-25.
It quits recording onto a mini dv tape when I am exporting from iMovie after 40 minutes. Very frustrating. Anyone know what is going on?? I would really really appreciate it. Thanks so much.

November 30, 2005 at 4:42 pmDoes the deck stop after 40 minutes when just recording from an analog input?
If not, I’d “trash the preferences” in iMovie and try again.
Click the following link for instructions.
https://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/trashing_fcp_prefs.html
A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).
There are versions for FCP (Pro) & FCE (Express) and a new one for FCP 5.Download these free Apple Scripts at
https://fcprescue.andersholck.com/
This is one tip that has helped in solving hundreds of “odd” problems.

November 30, 2005 at 4:44 pmWhoops!
The software link to the Apple Scripts I gave won’t help with iMovie.
You would have to MANUALLY trash the iMovie preferences.

I could be wrong….

You are not wrong.
But I was assuming that the OP was using a full-sized (or extended length mini) DV Cam tape.
If not…
