  Sony DSC 1024 scan converter for PAL to NTSC

  Has anyone used the Sony DSC 1024 scan converter to conver PAL mini-DV tapes to NTSC mini-DV tapes? How did the quality compare to say an expensive Alchemist conversion, or a software conversion? I have about 40 mini-DV pal tapes I want to convert to NTSC BEFORE editing in FCP. I also have the same amount
  of NTSC mini-DV tapes, all of which are to be edited into the same sequence, and the rendering and other software
  options such as Natress seem not so good as a hardware conversion in this huge project. Any ideas if the DSC 1024 is broadcast quality, or exactly what quality? I have a bargain deal of renting one of these for $200 for as long as I want to
  keep it, so it’s tempting, but I want to make sure it won’t be a waste of time.
