When asking Sony Clip Browser to “import” files, it declines with:

“Failed to import the clip. Reason: You don’t have a right to access the file or writing is prohibited for the file”.

I’ve done a “get info” and ensured as much as I can see “read & write” is set, and the file not locked, but I still get this dialogue box.

Advice / suggestions would be very welcome!

The files were shot yesterday on an PMW-EX3, dumped to an Apple MacBook, and then transferred to my iMac 2.66GHz running 10.5.7 and the Clip Browser version is 2.5 (though it says 2.05 in smaller type below).

You need to explain what you’re doing in more detail.
File/Import is used for orphaned MP4s.
BPAV parent folders are pointed to on the left and have a little brown icon on them.

    Sorted!

Thanks, Craig. I’m afraid I haven’t used Clip Browser since March, and totally forgotten how it works.

I now see all the clips.

    Thank you!

    Not the most intuitive program.

I have gotten that message before, and it had to do with the device I was transferring to. It was a hard drive that was not formatted correctly. So you may have a problem with your destination device.
