Sony Capture Deck
I just hired a Sony HDV 1080i miniDV capture deck. Model number HVR-M10E.
When I attach it to the Mac, nothing happens, no icon appears on the desktop. When I try to capture using FCP a message tells me no capture device is installed.
Am I doing something wrong or is the device not working?

The device will not appear on the desktop.
You should read the section in the manual on log and capture. Make sure that your FCP settings match your media.
