  • Sony AVCHD studders and stops during CS6 playback

I have several projects shot on a Sony in AVCHD. These played smoothly in CS5 but now studder and stop in CS6. The audio continues to play but the video can’t keep up and stops and jumps as it plays along. The bar is yellow so I don’t need to render. I have the playback resolution down to 25% but it doesn’t help. I have my media on a two – 2TB Caviar Black 7200 drives (internal sata) and the operating system on a 600GB VelociRaptor so there shouldn’t be any bottleneck. Scratch disc is on a separate drive from the video. HD Tune is showing an average transfer rate of 116.7MB on the 7200 rpm media drives with a minimum of 69.8MB. Since CS5 plays the projects fine I am thinking it is a CS6 issue? Anyone have any ideas on what to check?

    System
    Windows 7 Professional
    i7 980X 3.33GHz processor
    24GB ddr3 ram
NVIDIA Quadro 4000 (driver version 296.88)
600GB VelociRaptor 10,000rpm drive for operating system
2TB WD Caviar Black WD2002FAEX 7200rpm for media
2TB WD Caviar Black WD2002FAEX 7200rpm for additional media

i also have the same problem with my other unit regarding Premiere pro cs6 audio continues to play while the video stops during play back and also rendering stops at 8%. what i found out is that in my other unit which has a higher RAM and cuda numbers renders faster as expected…therefore, i am guessing maybe its a matter of RAM and CUDA issue…..
