May 22, 2009 at 8:25 pm[Mike Kujbida] “Details & download location are in the Vegas 8 AutoSave Custom Command thread.”
Please note that the correct procedure to get the most current version of Auto Save is to simply install Excalibur. Auto Save is still free to use and will continue to work even if Excalibur expires. You can find the download link to Excalibur here:

May 23, 2009 at 1:40 amJust another tip, you can search your whole computer for veg or bak files by search, *.veg or *.bak. Did you try restoring your computer to the last known saved veg file with windows restore? Danny Hays

May 23, 2009 at 7:01 amthanks again for the input . i delivered the project although it may have been missing some details. then, i needed to get some rest. i’m back on my horse again. it’s almost 2:00 a.m. just want to say that i did NOT try restoring my computer to an earlier date. but, i’ll keep it in mind for the next time. i did, just now, though, right click the white .veg file but there was no option to open it. thanks super thanks again to all.

May 24, 2009 at 1:00 pmOne other thought. Are you on XP? I don’t know about Vista but you can try a System Restore. Restore back to before the crash.
Use Excalibur but if you’re doing manual saves every x minutes. Don’t save over the last one. Do a Save-AS and give it incremental numbers or letters.
That way many saves to go back to.

August 5, 2009 at 2:02 pmNOTE: A new version of Auto Save has just been released. To get the new version, go to https://www.jetdv.com/excalibur and download and install Excalibur 6.0.6. The first fix solves a problem that could cause Vegas to lock up after a render. Here’s the fixes to Auto Save:
Fixed an issue where AutoSave would try to save while the “Render Complete” dialog was still visible.
Fixed an issue where AutoSave would prevent Vegas from releasing media when not the active application.
