Sony Action Cam x1000v videos, producing 1 video a mixture of 1080p60 and 4kp30, best output option? (vegas pro 14)

Im wondering for those that make a mixture of 1080p60 and 4k30 videos.. what do you output the whole video as.. 4k or 1080 ..

Either way I feel like something is going to be lost being as the 1080 is at 60 fps and the 4k at 30..

Just curious on this.. I was leaning towards doing it at 1080p60 (resampling disabled).. but i’m not sure what that does to the 4k30 video?

There are a few ways you can go with this depending on how much of what is mixed together and the type of subject you have recorded, the delivery format you will render to and how picky you are with the results!

1st, I don’t think you will be happy with uprezing the FHD to 4K, but then again it may be best for you to render a sample and see the results for yourself.

2nd, if you don’t have any fast motion like sports, you probably don’t need the 60p.

But there are workarounds again depending! If you have mostly 4K30p and a little bit of FHD60p, you may want to consider rendering in 4K and instead of uprezing the FHD, put the FHD in a picture-n-picture with some type of defussed back ground (which could actually be the FHD uprezed in the background. If the FHD60p is fast action you could actually leave it at 60p in the 4K30p project and it will play at half speed slow motion. If not action then let it play at 30p and every other frame will be dropped and look just as good as the 4K30p, again provided you don’t uprez the FHD.

If you only have a little bit of 4K30p, you may want to consider running that through a speed change to convert it to 60p using something like ProDad ReSpeedr or Happy Otter Scripts, then put it in a FHD60p project and you can left the 4K downrez to FHD or even use pan & crop for a more interesting look.

And there are more options, but those are my thoughts and suggestions for now.

As a standard, I resist mixing resolution and frame rates because it sooner or later causes problems that require some creativity or the project suffers. I don’t mind shooting in 4K and using that in a FHD project, I just resist the different frame rates unless I’m shooting specific slow motion, like 60p for a 30p project or 120p to a 30/60p project.
