  • Sonnet Fusion R800: what are the limitations regarding current HDDs?

    Hello

Sonnet publishes a list of HDDs which are “certified compatible” with their various current and legacy RAID arrays.

    https://www.sonnettech.com/Support/charts/harddrives/index.html

I’m wondering about the R800 which is an older model. According to Sonnet’s list not many 2TB drives are compatible with the R800 and only one 3TB drive.

Would anyone know if the listed drives are requirements (meaning no other drives will work at all) or simply recommendations?

Thank you very much in advance
    Philip

    Hi Philip,

we are running a R800 for years now. It’s still a good and reliable array. But it is no longer supported. So you should stick to the drive compatability list. Both 3TB and 2TB certified drives of the list are good choices. As a 4tb drive is not on the list, the hd will be most likely not supported.
Best drives for us are Ultrastars.

    cheers

    Rainer
