Render your project with Lower fields first and do 30 fps. I finally got smooth pans for broadcast. 🙂

…oh yeah, and import your footage as lower fields first in the Avid. Smooth as can be.

” Now, why didn’t I think of that? I’ll have to go back to AE school, I guess…”

I was having a problem with the 29.97 frame rate…which is odd because that is NTSC native…but Avid handled the 30 fps with much better results.

Thanks for the info, but I have to say that’s the first time I’ve seen someone have problems with it in the first place. You shouldn’t have to change the framerate. But lower fields is standard for the Avid codecs. I render out Quicktimes at 29.97 to the DS everyday with no problems.

..and I forgot to add that you need the filter “reduce interlace flicker” on your final comp. Without it, you will still get the stuttering motion.
