[cls105] “im going to assume i dont know what im doing here..”

Nope, this time you’re actually right, turning off a track does destroy renders, and undo doesn’t bring them back. This “feature” of FCP is a ridiculous programming error that has never been rectified. It alone makes the “Pro” in FCP a misnomer.

In any case, the only workaround is to indivdually disable clips on the timeline by right clicking and unchecking enable.

Well Undo (CTRL-Z) doe bring them back. Turning off visibility and then turning it back on does not bring them back. I am sure that is what you meant. Man this can be a real pain.

The application is designed to always render from the top down. It always renders from the original files. It never builds intermediate render files. That’s the way the application works. It’s hardly a programming error. It may be a different design concept from what you want, but it’s intentional, and for good reason.

    All the best,

    Tom
