  • Software Install Clash? (Avid vs Premiere vs FCP)

    Dear Creative Cow members,

I will be having my new Mac Pro delivered soon. I will be installing FCPX (for the ProRes codecs and just to try it out) but I am a Premiere Pro CC user. Both those programs have been approved for the new apple machine. Avid have just recently added compatibility for the new Mac Pro for their latest Media Composer; which I plan to purchase in a few months.

My question is, will having 3 different editing programs installed on the same OS clash and make them unstable? I was told that may be an issue, not sure how true that would be.

    Thank you.

In general there are not any issues from the Adobe side, though I do know of a problem with the latest Apple codecs update ( a post Mavericks update) that will create some problems for us.

As for installing FCPX for ProRes, that is NOT necessary since we licensed ProRes as part of the Creative Cloud release.

    HTH,
    Dennis

    Hi Denis,

thank you very much. Does the Adobe CC package include the ProRes codec license to decode as well as encode?

Cool, thank you, great to know. Would you by any chance know when the new PrP-CC update with GPU R3D debayer support will be released, or at least what month?
