Software for removing dirt, scratches, and so on
One of my hobbies is taking old footage and digitally cleaning it up by removing all the dirt, scratches, videotape artifacts, etc. This is a very laborious process…especially with my method, which is to use Vegas to capture one frame at a time, use Photoshop to do the repairs, and reinsert the repaired image back into Vegas.
What kinds of software are available that would at least speed up this kind of work?

The thread Aleksey linked to is a very good one. Pay particular attention to the posts by user johnmeyer as he is recognized as THE go-to guy for film restoration on that forum. Take a look at some of his work and you’ll see why I say that.
