  • Soft body anchors (spings) – are they broken in R24?

I’ve got a vertical spline (linear, none, with about 50 points) with a softbody tag on it.

I’ve got a small cube in the same position as the top most point on the spline. It has a collider body tag on it.

I’ve got a spring with the Cube in slot A and the Spline in slot B. I have the cube set to center of mass and the spline set to point index of -1 (I’ve also tried point selection and added a tag in the appropriate slot with the tag holding only the top point). I’ve hit the “set rest length” button (and the rest value snaps to near zero). Gravity is on.

When I hit play that spline should be locked to the cube and “suspended” in space.

Apparently not in R24. All hell breaks loose; the spline falls. (with gravity off it wafts upward and to the side by some unseen dynamic force), the spring stretches down forever slowly (much more slowly than the spline falling)

I’ve also tried rotating the spring 180 degrees in the P before hooking everything up as springs do seem to have an up and down (this file has it not rotated)

I must have missed something but it doesn’t get much simpler than this. Is it broken? Or am I just too tired?
