January 9, 2007 at 3:29 pmIf you have Illustrator 7, then you would need Adobe Streamline to do this. Otherwise you need CS2 with live trace.
You could do this in phothshop with make work path, and copy/paste that path into illustrator. Could be a lot of work if the logo has many colors ad is low res.

January 12, 2007 at 3:29 pmWhen you say ‘make work path’ – where is that? I’ve got Photoshop 7.0 and Illustrator CS (Educational Version) and I need to take a jpg and make it an eps.

January 12, 2012 at 3:02 amJust want to say thanks. This is exactly what I was looking for. To make an outline of an icon/shape/logo appear in Illustrator, you need to:
1 – open the file in Photoshop
2 – Use the magic wand to highlight the area you want to make outlines of (if it is more than one shape, click them all with the wand while holding down shift)
3 – right click on the image and Make Work Path
4 – Then go to File > Export > Path to Illustrator
It will create a *.ai file for you to then open in Illustrator. Open that file, copy it, then past it into your art.
Love,
Fred Rogers
Won’t you be my neighbor?
