  • So, The Dell 2407FPW NOT Apple 23″ Cinema Right?

Posted by Sam on August 13, 2006 at 11:58 pm

After reading a lot of reviews and reports on the Apple 23″ Pink problem and the Dell 2407, I should be going with the Dell OR has Apple fixed that issue?
I Love the way the Apple 23″ looks like but Dell seems to have “better” luck against it for quality and performance.

Any words before I click “BUY NOW” at Dell? I would rather do that at Apple but at the end of the day, we want a product that is better
    Thanks

Walter recently found issue with the Apple 23″ and went BACK to the Dell monitors. I never had an issue with the Dell and highly recommend them.

Well, it’s not just about color…well it is really. But it is also about inputs. The Dell is loaded and is really a great all around monitor. Also note that the 23″ 16:9 fits perfectly next to a 17″ Dell 4:3 LCD. So you get the nice wide 23 incher for your timeline and source/record, and the nice 17 inch 4:3 for project and bins. this way the whole setup is not too wide, which can make for too long a stroke with a mouse. I find the 23 and 17 are a perfect match…all my systems have em.

With the Dell you can use the monitor as a switcher between 2 computers and save desktop space.

Yep, and I’m still happy with it. Still miss the better contrast on the Apple, but no ghosting. For the second monitor we actually went with a $300 Viewsonic 20″ Widescreen display from Costco. The Dell and Viewsonic work very well together.
