So Apple included Silicon Color FinalTouch into FCP Studio for no extra charge….?
From the looks of Color, it is a reworked version of Silicon Color’s FinalTouch. It would appear that it has no resolution limit, so you might say that the feature set is comparable to Final Touch 2K, which originally cost $25,000 or so IIRC. Apple has taken this app and included it with Final Cut Studio. That’s pretty amazing to me. I see other threads where people seem to be bitching that this is not integrated directly into FCP, but frankly I don’t see what the problem is. FCP would be a horrible bloated mess if all these apps were integrated into one. Then instead of having several programs that are the Master of their trade, you’d have a single program that would be a Jack of all trades, and some things would definitely be lost.
This appears to be a project that compares in many ways to something like a DaVinci Resolve or a Discreet Lustre, except it costs a few tens or hundreds of thousand dollars cheaper.
I for one am blown away that this is included with FCP Studio with no additional cost.
