smothcam fxplug limitation in “academic” versions?
Does anyone know if there is a limitation of the fxplugs in the academic versions of FCP?
I’ve installed and uninstalled twice.
Reparied permissions to drive.
there was not even a plug-in folder at the root until I installed FxFactory trial pack. Now that folder is present, but that’s all there is in there.
The smoothcam filter(and several others) are “bold” in the browser, and when I go to it’s properties it says that there is no script attached, or something to that effect.
Help?

I don’t know if there are limitations, but FCPs native fxplug filters are not installed in the fxplug folder. That’s for 3rd parties. Make sure you go to Effects > Effect Availability > All Effects.

thanks, but that didn’t fix it.
simple case of RTFM.
i was trying to use it on a .dv clip, and it only works on QT.
live and learn.
