Smoother pans and zooms
Hi, I’m trying to get a smoother look on pans and zooms with my XDCAM EX 3 when converting to SD H264.
Currently I shoot on XDCAM Ex 3 at HQ 1080/50i
Cut with those settings on Final Cut Pro 6,
then compress using Quicktime conversion to SD H264, High quality,
25fps, fast encode, frame re-ordering. For FTP purposes.I’m happy with everything except pans and zooms look a bit chunky. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Word to the wise mate, its usually considered bad form to cross post as folks expend a fair bit of time answering only to discover the same answer, or maybe additional pertinent info, is already posted elsewhere… but I do appreciate you’re just trying to get as many eyes as possible n the question.

Perhaps, as a suggestion that the webmaster Andrew might kill me for, there is a way we could set up a cross posting system. So many posts have to do with AE and FCP, or Photoshop and AE AND FCP for example. Maybe a “cross post” check box when posting which then gives a “related forums” pulldown menu allowing you to select multiple forums.
The post could appear in the multiple forums and possibly even have some sort of cross post icon next to it, or no icon at all. Replies to the post would appear in all cross forums that were selected. So visitors to all the forums would see the related post. As well, perhaps it would show up as “viewed” across the forums as well so you don’t visit it twice if you do visit the multiple forums.
I would welcome something like this for sure. Think of it as a “nested post” or a “precomposed post.”
