Was Looking at the process used while smoothcam was doing its thing. and it seems to be called via sh. so wondering if any of the experts out there have figured a way to render using smoothcam in the background without firing up FCP.
If you want to speed up Smoothcam, don’t render the shot on your timeline taken directly from the original captured clip. Export out of FCP just the edited shot from your timeline. Re-import it and then apply Smoothcam. If you try to do it without exporting just the part you want to use, Smoothcam will have to calculate its adjustments on the entire digitized clip, not just the section you are using in your timeline. It’s waaaaaay faster.
I was thinking more on the lines if smoothcam can be used standalone then you can run multiple instances of it. With it being in the “Compressor” folder that would also be a nice way to run it via qmaster.
you might be able to address this by taking the clip into Motion,
and using a more detailed approach:
adding tracking markers, perhaps,
or editing the tracking keyframes.
(also it would probably have been better to start a new thread for this)
