Does anyone have a guess how they pulled this cylinder-warping effect off? (it’s at 00:40)
This doesn’t seem like a very complicated effect, but I’m having trouble pulling it off right. CC Cylinder on a precomp is not doing a good job, because everything inside gets extremely stretched and warped:
I’ve been fighting with this all day, counter-warping the layers inside the precomp, flipping them horizontally so they’re not inverted when we’re looking at the cylinder’s inside… Ugh, it just feels like I’m going down the wrong path.

Got it, just make the precomp much larger.

why are you using cc cylinder for such a thing..you need actual layers to fly around a null..not faked with cc cylinder.

Take note of how the elements (particularly the lines) warp around the characters as they travel around them. You can’t do that with straight-up layers, since they can’t bend in 3D space.

but they can…animate the layers then go to comp settings advanced 3d then add a curvature to all your layers by going to the material -light -etc-options properties of the layer
