  smooth upper bounds

  When you go to video fx and select legacy broadcast plugin it shows “smooth upper bounds” among others. What I am trying to do is add color to a faded film. Also add some contrast which I suppose I could do with other plug ins. But as far as upper bounds means I have no idea as it is a term I have never ran across before. Can someone explain this and also when the window is closed and you go to another window such as Video Preview does video fx apply it to the event where the video event fx was selected. In other words it is selected for the event where it was applied to in the first place and no other actions necessary to make it effective. .
