Is there a quick technique to get FCP to behave when setting easy in/easy outs on photos? I find it jerks around for me. What’s the method? There’s got to be a simple trick. Also, After Effects is not an option for me. I’m FCP only. Please, no advice about going to AE or any other program.

    Thanks!

Then you need to get a third party plugin, like MOVING PICTURE:

I have a technique from my book.
    1. zoom way in on the bezier handle in the Canvas.
    2. look for the purple “dot” on the handle, located about halfway down the handle. That’s the acceleration handle.
    3. stay zoomed in the canvas and then launch Quick View
    4. Mark in 1 second before the animation starts. Mark out 1 second after the animation stops.
    5. Press Play in QuickView.
    6. Tweak the bezier handle’s acceleration handle as it loops in QuickTime.
    7. tweak to taste.

The “jerks” are there likely because either you are not fully rendered or are not previewing on a video monitor (the Canvas only shows 1/4 of the res). You must do these two things to really see what is going on.
